{HI THERE}

LetterPDX Welcomes You.

Since 2014, LetterPDX has hosted inclusive, free drawing meetups for an ever-growing group of handlettering artists of all skill levels. Our roots are in Portland, Oregon, with community across the globe.

Will we see you at our next event? (We hope so.)

FAQ

Because LetterPDX is an informal meetup group, no official membership is required. If you’re interested in the group, you’re in the group. Simple as that!

No membership fees. No admission fees. LetterPDX, from day one in 2014, has been free of charge and will continue to be free of charge. In-kind donations of event spaces or supplies are welcome. Have questions about in-kind donations? Drop us a note.

Here’s a list of upcoming LetterPDX events, which you can also find on our LetterPDX Meetup page.

LetterPDX meets across the Portland, Oregon, metro area. We’re always open to hearing about fun new places to create art together.

VIBE

LetterPDX meetups are casual and designed to be a fun, light-hearted, community-focused way to explore your creativity and practice handlettering in a welcoming, low-pressure, inclusive environment among other creatives who may our may not roll in your usual social circles.

Everyone is welcome at LetterPDX regardless of ability or background. You are welcome to bring along family and friends.

ACTIVITY

Events include an optional prompt that is sometimes tied to our physical surroundings, sometimes not. We like to mix it up! At the end of each event, you’re welcome to take your work with you or leave it with us to archive.

SUPPLIES

Basic supplies are provided, but we encourage you to bring your own tried and true supplies so that you feel most comfortable and inspired.

SETUP & LAYOUT

Setup is handled by our group’s organizer, Lauren, and depends on location. Generally, we gather at tables, seated, and draw and chat with fellow lettering enthusiasts for 2-3 hours at a time, working on handlettered pieces inspired by the given prompt. Creativity and improvisation are always encouraged; no one is expected to stay “on book” 100% if inspiration pulls them elsewhere.

TIMEKEEPING

Meetups include a suggested start and stop time, although we do not require you to stay for any particular duration. Drop in and out as you wish.

Our organizer/event producer/social media manager is Lauren Krzyzynski. You might hear her before you see her.

Adult friends are always welcome. 🙂

Please check individual event announcements for any notes about restrictions relating to children and/or pets. These rules vary from one location to the next, and we do our best to accommodate children and non-human companions when we can.

If you’d like to bring your Alpaca to an upcoming event, please reach out and we’ll schedule a time to chat. We’ve lettered with goats before, so we know a thing or two about making art alongside a herd of non-human pals.

We are always happy to answer questions! Please reach out on our contact page, and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
