Hi fellow handletting enthusiast!

We’re so glad you’re here.

LetterPDX is a handlettering-focused creative community founded in 2014 by Tess Donahoe, David Grimes and Lauren Krzyzynski.

For 10 years, the group has sat down to draw together across the Portland metro area at maker spaces (Magnetic North, True North, Makerspace Sellwood), design agency offices (NORTH, Owen Jones, Jolby), gallery spaces (Nucleus Portland), bars/restaurants (White Owl, Radio Room, Rontoms, Baerlic Brewing, Burnside Brewing, Kennedy School, Laughing Planet), startups (Uncorked, Vacasa), retailers (TOMS Shoes, MUJI), parks (Irving Park, Cathedral Park), and with The Belmont Goats.

Events can include 10, 30, 50 or 80+ people at a time, and no matter where we meet or what the activity is, we celebrate and foster creativity, joy and connections. Events are free, and all are welcome, now and always.

FAQ

Because LetterPDX is an informal meetup group, no official membership is required. Simply join us at one of our events, and you’re in!

LetterPDX meets all across the Portland metro area. We’re always looking for fun new places to explore and get inspiration from.

Past events have been held at maker spaces (Magnetic North, True North, Makerspace Sellwood), design agency offices (NORTH, Owen Jones, Jolby), gallery spaces (Nucleus Portland), bars/restaurants (White Owl, Radio Room, Rontoms, Baerlic Brewing, Burnside Brewing, Kennedy School, Laughing Planet), startups (Uncorked, Vacasa), retailers (TOMS Shoes, MUJI), parks (Irving Park, Cathedral Park), and with The Belmont Goats.

LetterPDX meetups are casual and meant to be a fun and community building way to explore your creativity. Events are usually themed around the meetup location or other exciting events happening in the community. Basic supplies are always provided, but we encourage you to bring your own tools if you prefer.

Setup depends on location, but generally we gather at tables, chat with fellow lettering enthusiasts, and work on hand lettered pieces inspired by the theme. Creativity is always encouraged, so no one is ever expected to stick to the theme closely if inspiration takes them elsewhere.

Meetups do not have a particularly strict start/stop time, unless noted in the event announcement. You are welcome to drop in and stay for as much of the time as you’d like. At the end of the event, you are welcome to take your work with you or leave it with us for the archive.

Everyone is welcome at LetterPDX regardless of ability, age, or background. You are always welcome to bring along family and friends!

Many of our venues are dog friendly, and we love to see your furry companions. Event announcements are the best place to double check if pets are welcome, as it may vary from one location to the next.

If you want to bring your Alpaca to an upcoming event, please reach out and we will make it happen!!

We are always happy to answer questions! Please reach out on our contact page or dm us on instagram @LettterPDX and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
